our children grow. Volunteers are essential and there are many ways
for you to offer your time and your talents. Waverly Elementary School,

the programs at our school with your presence!! Remember, it is your

Code
of Ethics
As a volunteer,
you are subject to a code of ethics similar to that which binds professionals
in the field in which you work. Everything you see and hear regarding
individual students is considered privileged information. This information
should stay within the confines of an educational setting and should
never be discussed with fellow parents or friends. If you have questions
regarding what you see or hear please direct them to the staff memeber
you are volunteering for or to the administration.
Responsibilities
- We take
your commitment very seriously and we trust you will too. The staff
is counting on you to be there on time. The students are very dependent
upon you! Please do not take on more responsibility than you can realistically
fulfill.
- Please
arrive promptly. If you cannot attend on your scheduled day please
inform your teacher as soon as possible. Send a note with your child
or call the office 410-313-2819.
- Please
sign in on the volunteer sheet in the main office, and put on a sticker
each time you report to volunteer. The sheet and stickers are located
just inside the front office door. Specify times and teacher name.
This information allows us to locate you while in the building and
helps us keep track our our many volunteers.
YOU MUST WEAR A VOLUNTEER STICKER OR BADGE WHILE IN THE BUILDING!
- Proceed
to the classroom or designated area for instructions for that day.
The volunteer room is available for your use.
- Please
do not bring small children to school with you. Please do not
bring friends, relatives or children to volunteer with you.
- Show
respect for human dignity, individual differences, cultural, religious,
and racial diversity. Treat all students fairly and positively. Be
professional.
- Recognize
the need for flexibility and patience. Remember to always maintain
a warm, friendly attitude. Be willing to accept suggestions as well
as give them.
- Remember
each child is an individual with his/her own interests and problems.
Basic needs are the same bu the way in which we meet those needs will
vary with each individual child.
- Teachers
should have a list of what needs to be done by volunteers. If you
need help, contact your team instructional assistant (I.A.) for clarification.
