Rule of Five

Use this method to check the "readability" of a book.
Open the book to the
middle and select a full page of text.
Read the page aloud.
Put one finger up for
every word you can't pronounce or do not know.
If you get five fingers up
on a page, the book is too difficult to read
independently.
If you do not get any
fingers up, but are reading very slowly and decoding
almost every word, it will be difficult for you to enjoy
the book.
