The Walking Program‘s Moving Mondays initiative will be held during recess throughout the rest of the year.  Please encourage your children to participate and have them wear comfortable shoes.  

The child in each grade who walks the most miles, will receive a Razor Scooter due to a generous donation by Wal-Mart.  Prizes will also be given to the second and third place students. 

Spring is here, and it’s a perfect time to get up, get out, and get active!  As a perfect complement to the Walking program, we have signed up our school as a team in the GET ACTIVE Howard County Schools program. 

Get Active Howard County Schools (GAHC-S) is a free, 4-week initiative open to school communities with the goal of helping people become more active & improve their health. Join Thunder Hill’s team & help our school win! 

Here’s how you do it:

q       Set a goal for the number of minutes each day you want to be active.  This is YOUR GOAL!   It doesn’t have to be a lot, but think about adding just 10 more minutes than you usually do. 

q       From April 13 – May 10^th, record your activity each day on the Get Active log book.  You can count time walking, working out, playing sports, gardening, or even playing outside!

q       Return your logs in your student’s Monday Folder on May 13^th.  All completed logs count, even if you don’t meet your personal goal.  Additional logs are available at the website listed below.

q       If Thunder Hill has the most participation of all the elementary schools, we will win a free field trip to the Columbia Association Sports Park!  Everybody who participates will get a certificate as well. 

q       Parents, students and staff can all participate.  Let’s show Howard County that Thunder Hill can GET ACTIVE!!
