Our fourth graders are off to a fabulous start. We did some great team building activities which helped all of us to get to know each other better. The yellow daily folder comes home each night and is to be returned each day along with the assignment book. In Math, your child will have math homework Monday through Thursday, except on days they take an assessment. Homework will vary and will be on objectives covered in class that day. Please check your child's assignment book for homework and assessments dates. In Reading, please read for 20 minutes every night. Our first quarter book report will be on Animals. Have your child start thinking now about their favorite animal. Directions will go home on October 5th and they will be due November 12th. The fourth graders will be reading Scholastic News every week to keep up on current events. The 6 + 1 writing traits program will be used again this year. The spelling homework is as follows:
- Monday - sort and paste their spelling words. Write each word 2 times.
- Tuesday- Choose 10 words and write strong sentences.
- Wednesday- Free Choice
- Thursday - Take a written practice test. Write the words spelled incorrectly 2 times.
Science will be taught for four weeks and Social Studies will be taught for four weeks and Health will be taught for one week each quarter. The grades given in fourth grade consist of classwork, homework, assessments, projects, group participation and effort. Our first filed trip will be Friday, November 16th and we will be going to The Maryland Science Center. We are very excited about this trip!
This team website will be updated monthly. The fourth grade teachers are thrilled to be working with such a great community.
