Welcome to the First Grade Team at St. John's Lane Elementary School! First grade is a very exciting year. Our students come to us with a wide range of abilities and at varying developmental stages. We strive to meet the needs of all of our students, while working on our curricular goals. We provide a fun and nurturing environment, within a structured setting.

The first grade curriculum covers many basic skills that are essential to your child's future educational success. It's our belief that all of our students can be successful. Therefore, we base our language arts and math programs on a philosophy of flexible grouping.

We provide frequent, ongoing assessment in order to determine the instructional levels of our students, and group them accordingly. Volunteers are a vital part of our program, and we welcome parental involvement. We love teaching first grade and are committed to the well-being of our students. Team 1 looks forward to working with you and your child.
