What's Happening in the Media Center?

Black-eyed Susan’s Literary Society of Ellicott City

Hollifield Station, St. John’s Lane, and Waverly Elementary Schools are proud to announce the creation of a community literary society. This society will join together our three communities along with school members, parents and children. Our purpose is to encourage a life-long love of reading. By bringing together teachers, parents and children we hope that discussions centered on literature will be springboard to reading enrichment and a bonding between community, school, and family.

Our next meeting will be for 4th grade students and their parents. The book we will be discussing will be: The Time Warp Trio – Knights of the Kitchen Table By Jon Scieszka.

The Black-eyed Susan’s Literary Society will have our Fourth Grade meeting on: Tuesday, February 25, 2003, 7:00-8:00 pm, Hollifield Station Elementary.

Fourth grade students are encouraged to read with their parents and discuss the book while they are reading. Please let us know if you are interested in attending.

P.A.G.E.S.

Purchase a gift everyone shares! Is the SJLES Media Center program, which offers a unique way to celebrate your child’s birthday and other special occasions. A $15.00 donation will commemorate this event and recognize your child in a special way.
Thank you to the following SJLES families for donating a book to our Media Center through P.A.G.E.S. The students will select a book, which will contain their name, the date of their special occasion and the donor’s name.
