Why should you join the
PTA?
PTA supports and enhances our children's
educational experience. We advocate on behalf of
our students, families and school to the Department
& Board of Education as well as to the County
government. The more members we have, the louder
our voice when we speak out. Internally, we
cultivate a cooperative staff and parent
relationship, along with encouraging parental and
public involvement in schools. Membership dues help
pay for events and programs that foster those
goals.
What does a strong PTA do for the
school?
PTA touches many areas of the school. To name a
few, we sponsor cultural enrichment activities,
purchase classroom and school enrichment materials,
host family fun nights like Bingo night, sponsor
after school classes, organize staff appreciation
events, hold parenting workshops and host the
legendary May Day Fair! PTA publishes a student and
family directory that is paid for by your
membership dues. Your membership dues support the
PTA and help pay for all that we do! You can help
us succeed in providing so much for our SJLES
students, teachers and staff.
Does membership mean I have to
volunteer?
Your membership contribution does not require that
you volunteer your time. Your money is hard at work
supporting our school.
What do I have to do to become a
member?
Becoming a member is very easy. Simply send in
your membership dues! You will receive a membership
card, entitling you to discounts on school events
and merchandise throughout the year.
Have more than one child at
SJLES?
No need to join more than once. Remember, each
parent, grandparent, friend or neighbor who cares
about an SJLES student is invited to be a
card-carrying member! ($8-first member, $7-each
additional member) Mom and Dad can join for the
discounted price of $15! Each membership is for one
person and for the current school year only. Any
donation above the regular membership dues will be
gratefully accepted!
All of the volunteers of the PTA thank you immensely for your help in building opportunities for our children. If you have any questions, please call or email the Membership Committee: Kari Schumm or Kelli Dicks.
