ITL:Terri Bradford - Mrs. Bradford earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland College Park and pursued Masters work at McDaniel University. She recently earned a certificate in teacher leadership from UMBC. Moving to River Hill in 2000 from a school in Anne Arundel County, Mrs. Bradford teaches Forensic Science, Biology and HSA Mastery courses this year. She is the co-chairperson of the new teacher committee and leader of the Biology team.
Shelly
Chamness - Mrs. Chamness received her undergraduate degree in biology from Penn State. She then did infertility and prostate basic science research at Johns Hopkins for ten years. After receiving a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins, Mrs. Chamness began teaching at River Hill in 1997. She teaches A.P. Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Biology I. In addition, she is the varsity field hockey coach at River Hill and coaches The Hericanes club indoor field hockey team in the winter. You can find her webpage on teacherweb.com.
Jack Dibler - A teacher since 1974, Mr. Dibler worked for 32 years in the Prince Georges county public schools as a chemistry teacher before moving to River Hill High School in 2006. A graduate of Clarion University, Mr. Dibler has lived in Howard County since 1986. He was selected as the 2009 teacher of the year at River Hill. He is the co-sponsor of the It's Academic team and a valued member of the National Honor Society Faculty Council.
Justin Rix - Born and raised in Howard County, Mr. Rix came to River Hill from Baltimore county public schools in 2007. He attended UMBC earning a BS degree in Geography and Environmental Systems. He earned a Masters Degree in Science Education. A champion wrestler at Centennial in high school, Mr. Rix is the coach of the JV wrestling team and a member of the 9th grade team.
Gregory Clark - Mr. Clark began his teaching career at River Hill in 2009. He earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady NY and a MS in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle University. For 22 years, he worked as an Air Force Instructor. He is the former 76th Airlift Squadron Director of Operations in Ramstein Germany and the Former Command Pilot for VIP operations at Andrews Air Force Base, flying B757 and B737 Aircraft as the AFII pilot transporting the Vice President of the United States. Mr. Clark is the sponsor of the Rocketry Club.
Scott Engler - Mr.
Engler is in his fifth year of teaching at River Hill. He teaches
Chemistry and Introduction to Chemistry and Physics. He earned his
B.S. from Salisbury University and M.S. in Educational Administration
from McDaniel College. Mr. Engler also serves as one of the Student
Government Association Advisors and is the Assistant Varsity Baseball
Coach.
Zinaida
Gurvich – Ms.
Gurvich
spent 5 wonderful years in and graduated from the Byelorussian State
University in 1985. She has a Master Degree in Physics. A specialty
in Spectroscopy and Quantum Electronics. She taught Regular, Honors
and GT Physics, Physical Science, Astronomy, Regular and Honors Chemistry,
Environmental Science, GT Engineering, Computer Science (Visual Basic
6.0 and C++). She also co-sponsoring Japanese Culture and Anime club
at RHHS. Ms. Gurvich used to coach Science club in the previous schools
I had taught.
Regina
Hobbs - A teacher at River Hill since 1999, Mrs. Hobbs taught for three years at Mayfield Woods Middle School. She graduated from Towson State with a BS in Natural Science. In 2002, she completed her MS in Technology from Johns Hopkins University. She was a participant in the Teach to the Future program sponsored by Intel. In the spring of 2003, she was awarded Howard County's Technology Use Teacher of the Year. She was selected by the class of 2008 as the teacher of the year. She is the co-class sponsor for the Class of 2013 and a valued member of the 9th grade team
Susan
Lower - Ms. Lower is a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.S. degree in Biology Education. This is her 22nd year teaching at River Hill, among other things she currently teaches one GT Biology, two Regular Biology, one AP Environmental Science, and one Astronomy class. In addition she is the sponsor of ecology club and student energy auditors. She has received various awards including the Governor’s Green Award, in April 1999.
Cristin
Lauer - Ms.
Lauer is a graduate from the University of Delaware, 2003
with a BA
degree. She is currently completing a masters program in leadership
through
UMBC. This her fifth year teaching biology at River Hill. In addition
she is the varsity cross country and track and field coach. Ms. Lauer
is the class of 2010 sponsor as well as part of the 9th grade
team.

Kazi, Para ed.
Kerry Martin - Originally from Mays Landing, NJ, Mr. Martin attended UMBC where he majored in Biology. He earned his Master's Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Martin began his teaching career in 1999 working in Baltimore county before joining Howard County public schools in 2010.
Kelly Wester - Ms. Wester graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with degrees in Spanish and Chemical Engineering. She earned her M.Ed. and certification from UMass Lowell 1996, and taught for five years at Marlborough High School in Massachusetts. After moving to Maryland, she spent several years raising her children and started back to work as a long-term substitute in Prince George’s County during the spring of 2010. She joined River Hill in 2010. |
