Dear Parents,
Happy Monday!! Back to School Night was a huge success. Thank
you for participating and we look forward to a successful year
collaborating with you to ensure that your student has a great
year. Enjoy the week.

doughnuts and wonderful conversations at my monthly Principal’s
Coffee. We will be meeting this Thursday, September 28th at 8:00

ASVAB at River Hill
River Hill High School will be administering the Armed Services
Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) on Tuesday, October 2 from
7:25am-10:20am. The test is open to all interested students in
grades 9-12. The battery provides excellent career information
to the students that take it. If you are interested in having
your child complete the battery or if you have questions or need
additional information please contact Mike Cohee, the Career
Research and Development teacher at River Hill High School. Mr.

Federal Bureau of Investigation Teen Academy
On Friday, October 5, 2007, the Baltimore Division of the FBI
is hosting its Annual Teen Academy. The Teen Academy is designed
to promote an educational experience that will provide students
hands-on experiences and case presentations, to further explain
to the younger generation how the FBI addresses the concerns
of the community.
This one day event, scheduled from 7:45am-4:00pm, will take place
at 2600 Lord Baltimore Drive, Woodlawn, Maryland. The curriculum
will include: presentations on terrorism, gangs, Internet safety,
FBI hiring process, SWAT team, and interactive exercises-polygraph,
evidence recovery, and firearms training simulation.
Applications are available from Mr. Vangeli in Guidance and must
be received by the FBI by Friday, September 21.
Schedule Changes: At this point counselors will only be making
schedule changes for students who are placed in the wrong level
class. Counselors will no longer be making elective class changes.
Coffee with Guidance
On Friday, September 21 at 9am in the Guidance Office the Guidance
Counselors will be meeting with interested parents and students.
The counselors will be sharing information about the counseling
program at River Hill and they will be discussing topics of interest
to parents and students. If you would like to be part of this

College and High School Assessment Testing
On Monday, September 24 at 7pm in the Auditorium the guidance
office will be sharing information on the PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject
Tests, the ACT, AP Exams, TOEFL, and High School Assessments.
This program is open to students and parents in grade 9 through
12. It is a good opportunity to learn about the different test
and when your child should take them.
College Night Program
On Monday, October 1 at 7pm River Hill High School will be hosting
its annual Fall College Night program. We will have representatives
from area colleges and guidance counselors conducting workshops
on various topics. Parents and students will be able to attend
two 45 minute workshops. Workshop topics include: NCAA Clearinghouse,
University of Maryland, Selective College Admissions, Understanding
the Community College Experience, Making the Most of the College
Visit, College for Students with Disabilities, Understanding
the Financial Aid Process, Understanding the Military Academy
Process, The Private College Experience.
