Principal’s Update
November 5th, 2007
Happy Monday!! Wow, what a weekend for the Hawks!! The Marching
Band came in 1st at the Marine Corps Invitational in Annapolis,
our Cross Country Teams (Boys and Girls) were Regional Champs,
our Girls' and Boys' Soccer Teams as well as our Volley Teams advanced
in the State playoffs, and the football team stayed unbeaten as
they head towards the playoffs. I hope to see you at the many competitions,
as our teams and the band continue to advance. I would also encourage
you to attend our Drama Production, “It’s A Wonderful
Life” this week. Our students have worked very hard and their
performances are always incredible. The following information is
being provided to help keep your informed.

Marching Band
The River Hill Marching Band performed Saturday evening at the
Marine Corps Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland. The Marching
Band captured 1st place in Group III Open with a season-best score
of 90.85, keeping them undefeated for the season. River Hill also
won awards for Best Music, Best Percussion, and Best Effect. They
were also awarded the U. S. Marine Corps "Esprit de Corps" award
for "the high school band which best exemplifies our Core
Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment through the overall effect
of their performance. The thrust of the award is patriotism, precision,
and professionalism through its conveyed message."
The Band next travels to Giants Stadium at the Meadowlands, for
the Northern States Championships, and then to M & T Bank Stadium
for the National Championships.

FREE HOME ENERGY AUDITS are available for residents of the River
Hill High School community. You will receive 2 FREE energy saving
CFL light bulbs and a packet with energy saving tips to lower your
energy bill and carbon footprint. The students have been through
SEAT (Student Energy Audit Team) national training. Please contact
Susan Lower at slower@hcpss.org and please write Home Energy Audit
in the subject area.

Parents may log on to Pick-A-Time starting Tuesday, Nov. 6th at
12:00 noon, link at www.hcpss.org/rhhs . The system will be turned
off Thursday, Nov. 15th at 12:00 noon. Parents will need their
student's ID number in order to reserve conference times. Student
ID numbers can be found on the interim report, schedules and also
on report cards. ID numbers cannot be given out over the phone.
