March 31st, 2008

Special Recognition | Talent Show | Math and Related Sciences (MARS) Camp |Guidance Update

Dear Parents,

Happy (almost) April!!!  Spring has arrived!!  Our first letter to our
graduating seniors and their parents is in the mail.  We will have a
busy few months before they walk across the stage.  Please call
Guidance if you have questions or concerns.

As the weather changes it seems to influence our students' decision
making.  Please remind them to think before they act.  Each year we
hear about students involved in incidents in the community, car
accidents and skipping school all caused by poor decision making. Each
of these types of decisions can have negative consequences.  Let's
work together to make our end of the year a success.

We would like to welcome Ms. Jen Larsen, a new intern here in the
Music Department.  Jen comes to us from Towson University.  We're glad
to have you with us!

The following information is being provided to help keep you informed.
 Have a great week.

Congressional Page Program.
The Congressional Page Program was created to give high school
students an opportunity to work for the U.S. House of Representatives
and learn about the legislative process.  Page duties include
delivering correspondence, answering telephones in the Members'
Cloakroom, and preparing the House Floor for sessions.  A rotation
system is practiced so that every Page has an opportunity to
experience the various areas of Congressional service.  Furthermore,
pages are compensated for their services and room and board is
provided in the Page Residence Hall.

This year, Congressman Cummings is able to nominate a Congressional
Page for the summer session which begins on June 8, 2008 and ends on
June 28, 2008.  Qualified applicants need to be at least sixteen years
of age prior to the start of the program and must be a junior in high
school, must be a citizen of the United States and must have a 3.0 GPA
in their major subjects.  The deadline for applicants is April 4,
2008.  Applicants should send a brief lett er of interest, a resume
and two letters of support to the address below for consideration.
