The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Since its inception at River Hill High School in 1996, the NHS has inducted many hundreds of members into its chapter. This 2007-2008 school year, the River Hill NHS will continue to sponsor numerous service projects in the hope that its members and the community at large can both benefit.
