R.E.C.C. Mission Statement

To foster learning and development in young children through excellence in early education and partnerships with staff, families, and community members.  There are 17 Regional Early Childhood Centers in Howard County.

Vision
We envision Early Intervention Services that reflect our core values of focus on instruction, partnerships, and continuous improvement.
•Family members and professionals collaborate in the evaluation and intervention process to develop personalized programs for young children.
•Personalized programs for children address each child's unique strengths and needs, include involvement in early childhood curriculum, reflect sound principles of child development and intervention, and result in children being active learners of real life.
•Children with disabilities and typically developing peers learn together and develop friendships.
•Family members participate in education and support activities.
•All service providers collaborate for continuous program improvement and HAVE FUN!

The Pointers Run Elementary School RECC serves children ages
2-5 in the following programs:

1 Multiple Intense Needs - Toddlers Classroom for toddlers with disabilities and typically developing peers

1 Multiple Intense Needs Classroom for Early Learners (EL) and
typically developing peers

3 Pre-school classrooms for children with disabilities and typically developing peers.

Continuum of Services
A continuum of services is considered to meet the individual needs of each child and family.  The following special instruction or special education and related services are provided as necessary.

           Special instruction or special education
           Speech-language therapy - Occupational therapy
                    Physical therapy - Psychological services
                    Assistive Technology

In addition, behavior support services and instructional support services are provided to team members and families to assist them in designing and implementing a child's program.  Office of Early Intervention Services Resource Teachers, Behavioral Specialists, and the Autism Specialist may provide these services.  These professionals have received intensive training in intervention strategies for young children with special needs.
