Here you'll find information on all the various tests that you may need to take to graduate high school, or to get into college: HSAs, SATs, etc. Plus, links to tips, tricks, and other handy study guides to help you earn the best score you can.

LearningExpress Library

Trying to improve basic skills or prepare for an important test?  Whatever your goal, LearningExpress Library's resources will help you succeed.

Learning Express provides interactive online practice tests in a variety of academic and career related areas. These include advanced placement tests, GED tests, college entrance exams (ACT and SAT), and job related qualification tests in areas such as nursing, the military, real estate, and a variety of public safety fields. This research tool also includes tutorial courses on job related skills, such as resume creation, and subject reviews in such areas as citizenship requirements, math skills, and writing skills. You will need to set up a personal user name and password in order to keep track of your progress on individual tests and courses.



Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

AP Exam Reminders
AP Exams begin Monday, May 6 and end on Friday, May 17. All exams will take place at The Other Barn, with the exception of AP Spanish (5/7) and AP French (5/14), which will be held in the OMHS Media Center computer lab.

Friendly Reminders for AP Students:

  • Dress in layers for comfort
  • Wear a watch (one that does not beep, please)
  • Bring #2 pencils (NO MECHANICAL PENCILS)
  • Bring black or blue pens
  • Bring your calculator if your exam allows it (and extra batteries)
  • Bring snack/water for break
  • NO CELL PHONES or other electronic devices
  • Language exams in Media Center – all others at the Other Barn
  • Arrive ˝ hour early: 7:30 for 8AM exams 11:30 for noon exams 1:30 for 2PM exam
  • Get a good night’s rest – and don’t forget breakfast!

High School Assessment (HSA)

The May Administration of the HSAs will take place the week of the 20th-24th.

  • Monday, May 20 - Algebra
  • Tuesday, May 21 - English
  • Wednesday, May 22 - Biology
  • Thursday, May 23 - Government

Make-up exams will be administered the week of May 28th.


HSA Review
There will be an HSA review two days a week beginning Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 23rd until May 16th. Students need to submit an application (see below) and commit to all 8 sessions. For more information contact: devorah_urszuy@hcpss.org.

Practice Taking the HSA

PSAT

The PSAT is administed in October of each school year. All college bound juniors should understand that this test will qualify Juniors for National Merit Scholarships, National Achievement Scholarships (African-American Students), National Achievement Scholarships (Hispanic students) and Maryland Distinguished Scholar. The PSAT is given only once a year. Do not miss this test!
