Immunization Requirement Changes
Maryland school immunization requirements have changed for students in preschool through 9th grade. If you have a child in 9th grade, you may be affected by the new requirements.
Beginning in September 2006, all students through the 9th grade must show proof of immunization against Hepatitis B and Varicella
(chickenpox) or doctor's documentation that the student has had the
disease with the Month and Year.
For the current 2006-2007, students need to show proof of these vaccinations before Jan 2, 2007. If the missing documentation is not presented to the school by the due date, the student may be excluded
from school until the records have been provided from the doctors or
health clinics.
Call your doctor soon to make sure your child is up-to-date on the
required immunizations or to make an immunization appointment. Most
immunizations are covered by health insurance policies. Students
without health insurance can receive vaccinations from the local health
department (410-880-5888).
If you have any questions or need to check your child's immunization
record, please feel free to call health room at 410-313-6952.
