PHYSICAL EDUCATION- Mrs. Spring & Mr. O'Brien
Our physical education curriculum includes a balance of skills, concepts, game activities, rhythms, gymnastics and dance experiences. Children are encouraged to question, integrate, analyze, communicate and apply cognitive concepts helping them gain a wide multicultural view of the world through physical education learning experience. We hope, through these experiences, students experience success and a sense of acceptance and well being. Students in grades kindergarten through five have Physical Education for 90 minutes per week. Kindergarten through 2nd grade meet three times per week for 30 minutes. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade meet for a one hour class and one 30 minute class.
ART - Mrs. Hoskins & Ms. Vestal
Students participate in drawing, painting, printmaking, crafts, and sculpture in the art program. They are exposed to a wide variety of master artists and cultural exemplars. Each year the fourth grade students visit an area art museum or gallery as part of the program. Students in grades kindergarten through 5 have art class once a week. Each class is 60 minutes long.
LIBRARY MEDIA - Mrs. Flynn, Ms. Staines Media Specialists & Mrs. Merrill, Assistant
The media curriculum for all grades encompasses information skills, literature appreciation, and production skills. Students in grades kindergarten through 5 have media class once a week. Each class is 45 minutes long. The media center is open throughout the school day for individual, small-group, and classroom use.
GENERAL MUSIC - Mrs. Merkle & Mrs. Varga
Students are exposed to singing, listening, movement, and playing of percussion instruments. Students in grades 1 through 5 have general music class twice a week. Each class is 30 minutes long. Students in grades 4 and 5 are invited to participate in chorus, which presents two concerts each school year.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC - Ms. De Leon and Mrs. Zeitler
Interested students in grades 4 and 5 are invited to participate in band (winds, brass, and percussion). Strings classes (violin, viola, cello and bass) are open to students in grades 3, 4, and 5.
