In third grade students work towards increasing levels of independence and responsibility. Students are assigned homework each night in spelling and mathematics. Additional projects are assigned as appropriate throughout the year. Each child's instructional progress may vary based on individual needs.
Language Arts Focus Areas:
Reading and listening for literary experience, to be informed, and to perform a task. Comprehension is assessed primarily through written responses, however evaluative data is also collected using multiple choice responses and discussions. Demonstrate comprehension and use of strategic reading behaviors for all purposes of reading and listening

"A Family Guide to What Your Child will Learn Throughout the Third Grade Year" is available from you child's teacher. This document gives specific objectives for each content area. Students are evaluated each quarter based on the objectives listed on the intermediate report card.
