Dear Friends and Families of Lime Kiln Middle School,

The Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education officially named Lime Kiln Middle a Green School yesterday.  Mr. Keddell and several students attended a Celebration yesterday at The Community College of Baltimore County.  We are very proud to have our environmental program recognized by the state of Maryland.  Thanks to Mrs. Rogers for the transportation and support!

Congratulations to our students who led workshops at todayÕs Gifted and Talented Middle School Expo.  Abby Goron and Joel Samelson presented a session entitled ÒCan you Hear Me Now?Ó  This interactive session taught participants how to incorporate podcasting with writing.  Eighteen student ambassadors from sixth and seventh grade also attended.

We are so proud of Jake Rhody!  He was selected to read his poem, ÒWriterÕs Block,Ó at TuesdayÕs Board of Education meeting.  He also read it at todayÕs GT Expo.  His poem appeared in Our Voice, the annual literary magazine showcasing student writing and artwork.

Several Lime Kiln students were also featured in Our Voice.  Besides Jake Rhody, two other students were selected for their outstanding writing. Kudos to Tim Fisher and Alex Wollack!  Kyle Drumheller, Maureen Monk, and Michelle Seu were honored for their artwork.

A special thank you to the sixth grade parents who attended Outdoor Education at Camp Letts.  Your support of our teachers was most appreciated.  Also, you are a very fun group to camp with!

Sincerely,
Brenda Thomas

Our students of the week are: Jack Angelo, Alex Darnell, Luke Sherry, Christina Romano, T. J. Hammer, Michael Hagen, Keelin Perry, Nathan Choe, Joanne Brent, Ben Ailinger, Jessica Chou
