Dear Friends and Families of Lime Kiln Middle School,

Thanks to the sixth grade team under the leadership of Mrs. Mundy for another successful Outdoor Ed experience.  What a wonderful group of parents we had on the trip!  We are also grateful to the numerous teachers from other teams in the building that attended and led workshops.  ArenÕt we glad the rain ended before we got to the Chesapeake?

How proud we are of Ms. Johnson, Lime KilnÕs eighth grade History teacher!  She will be attending the prestigious Supreme Court Summer Institute this June in Washington, D.C.  This was a highly competitive process and only two teachers from Maryland were selected.  The Institute offers teachers the opportunity to study recent Supreme Court Cases in detail and learn innovative teaching methodology for conveying this information to students.  Well know Supreme Court lawyers, reporters, scholars and educators will be among the speakers and instructors.

Enjoy this Memorial Day Weekend.  The weather promises to be sunny and dry..finally!

                                                            Sincerely,
                                                            Brenda Thomas

From the PTA:

Staff Appreciation Week was a great success. Our theme for the week was the Beijing Olympics. Each morning the staff, and students, had fun trying to win the Olympic Trivia Contest. Congratulation to the winners and thank you to all the students who ran fast to turn in their teacherÕs answer.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday found TEAM TREATS in the staff mailboxes. Thank you to all who helped package, and organize the treats. Tuesday we served BREAKFAST FOR OUR CHAMPIONS to the teachers and staff before the students arrived. Thank you to everyone who contributed food, drinks, or time to the effort. It is greatly appreciated. THURSDAY we celebrated BEIJING 2008 with a Chinese Buffet luncheon for all. Thank you to everyone who contributed food, drinks, or time to the effort. The food was delicious! The teachers requested recipes, so if it is not a family secret, send them in if you can.
