Marc Brown
is the author of the well known and loved stories of an eight
year old aardvark named Arthur. Marc Brown created the character
of Arthur over twenty years ago when thinking up a bedtime story
to tell to his son, Tolon. Many years and many stories later,
children still love reading about the adventures of Arthur and
his friends. It is interesting to know that all of the Arthur
characters are based on people that Marc Brown has known throughout

Beatrix Potter, born in London in 1866, lived a typical
Victorian life. During her childhood, Beatrix owned many
different pets. the pets that she owned throughout her childhood
served as the inspiration for many of the characters in her books:
her rabbit, Peter, served as a basis for the creation of her most
beloved characters, Peter Rabbit. Beatrix died in 1943,
leaving behind a legacy of children's books. Some of these

Jon Sciezska
and Lane Smith
are the author and illustrator duo responsible for some very,
very funny stories that have become childhood (and adult) favorites
all over the world! Jon and Lane met in 1986 and have been
working together ever since, creating hilarious stories together.
