Meaning of Division – Part 2

Materials:

Chart paper

Laptop computer

LCD projector or TV hookup

Mobile lab or computer lab

Division Stories.kid

Division Dilemmas.ppt

 

HCPSS Objectives:      

á      Practice responsible and appropriate use of technology systems, software, and information  

Procedure:

  1. Have students log onto a computer and then meet you up front.
  2. Read aloud a division story or view the PowerPoint presentation, Division Dilemmas.

4.    Review concept of division as sharing equally and discuss real-life situations the students have experienced.

5.    Display Division Stories.kid activity on the projector.  (Depending upon the technology skills of your students, you may need to model the steps necessary to access the file)

6.    Go over the directions with the students and check their understanding of what to do.

7.    Have students go back to their computers and begin their work (you may have students work with a partner). 

8.     Circulate and monitor their progress.

9.      Early finishers should solve the bonus problem. 

10.  Have students save their work onto their desktop and drag it to your hand-in folder on the server or print their document.

11.  Close by allowing a gallery walk or if time permits, allow students to share their division story on the projector.
