Principal's
Report (Glenn Heisey):
Mr.
Heisey reviewed the research associated with switching the order of lunch and
recess. An article in KOT will be included on this topic next week to solicit
feedback from the parents. This change will be made next year.
We
had two surveys last year which are available in five different languages: Vietnamese,
Chinese, Urdu, Spanish, and English. The surveys are completed by students,
staff, and parents. Notification to complete the survey will be available
through the school newsletter and a paper notice will go out to parents. The
surveys should be completed online surveys but paper surveys will be available
upon request. It will be due back May 16th. Paper versions of the
eSchool newsletter will be optional next year.
Staff
Report (Lisa Hairston-Jones): Report cards are going out April 20th. Students
in Grade 2 are taking the Stanford 10 on Tues-Thurs. MSA Science exam will be
taken by the Grade 5 students. Half of the students will take the exam on
computer, and the other half will use paper and pencil.
Treasurer's
Report (John Anania):
We
earned about $1,500 more than anticipated for this year. After expenses there
will be approximately a $16,000 to $18,000 surplus this year.
The
treasurer is seeking volunteers for the audit committee. Kelli has the list of
duties and a sample report. For example, the auditor will need to ensure that
there are backups for every check that is written. It is approximately a 3-4
hour commitment. It is just a sampling of the audit. At least one person is
needed.
Committee
Reports
Hospitality: Help is needed for Teacher Appreciation week, May 7th-11th. Lunch will be provided on 5/9, and Friday is dessert day. Hospitality needs help with the lunch, dessert day, and picking up and distributing the gifts. Spirit and Hospitality committees may be combined next year.
Nominating Committee: (Jeannie DeCray): There are still two vacancies for
next yearÕs PTA: volunteer coordinator and President.
President's
Report (Kelli Dicks): In
the interest of time, the discussion of the HSES sign was postponed until the next
meeting.
Our
next meeting will be May 8th. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
