Horizon Foundation Strategic Initiatives Program - 2005

The Horizon Foundation seeks Letters of Intent for their Strategic Initiatives Program. This grantmaking program focuses on health and wellness issues in Howard County. Strategic Initiatives Program priorities for the Year 2005 include:
  • Child and Adolescent Health and Wellness;
  • Youth Asset Development Projects
  • Older Adult Health and Wellness;
  • Programs Addressing the Needs of "At Risk" Populations; and
  • Crisis and Emergency Response Activities

Letters of Intent due: Tuesday, March 8, 2005
Invited Proposals due: Thursday, May 26, 2005
Awards Made: August, 2005

Grantsmanship 101 - Overview of Grant Research and Writing
    This workshop will provide participants with an overview of the grant development process.  Participants will be introduced to print and computer-based grant funding research resources, the basic elements of a grant proposal, and the HCPSS grant development and approval process. Participants are encouraged to bring an idea for a possible grant proposal to the workshop.
NOTE: This workshop can also be offered at individual schools by request.

Grant Research, Program Planning and Proposal Writing
    This series of five 2-hour workshops is designed for teachers, administrators, and other HCPSS staff/volunteers who would like to learn more about grant research, program planning, and effective proposal writing.  While each workshop stands alone, attending all five will provide participants with a hands-on experience through an entire grant proposal development process.  During each workshop, participants will develop a component of a grant proposal.   Participants can receive a CPD hour for each workshop attended.

Workshop II:         Grant Research
Workshop III:        Program Outcomes and Design
Workshop IV:        Evaluation, Management Plan, Timelines, and Budget
Workshop V:         Putting It All Together!
