1- Connect to the Server
- Rainbow Colored Apple->Chooser
- AppleShare-> Mac Document Server OR "Server IP Address" = 10.1.11.20
- Password->Birthday (month/day/last 2 digits of year) = ex. 11/8/93
- Log In-> Your Report Card Name = ex. Christopher Jones
- Select Student Document Server (it will mount to the desk top)
- Open the Student Document Server and scroll down until you find your folder-> Double Click to Open It
- Create a new folder (File->New Folder) and call it "First Name Last Initial +website" ex. CourtnayMwebsite
2- Open Microsoft Word (it is in "Items for Student Folder")
Select File->New Document- File->Save As->name it "First Name Last Initial" Make sure that it is saved as a Word Doc.
- Select "Desktop button" -> Select "Student Document Server" -> Select Your Named Folder -> Open the website folder that you made-> SAVE
- Now everytime you save today, the page will automatically save to your server folder
CARDINAL RULE: .HTML DOCS DO NOT SAVE TABS, HORIZONTAL CENTERING ETC... OF TEXT AS CREATED BY MICROSOFT WORD
- TO COPY AN IMAGE - Hold Your Mouse Down On The Image You Want To Use->Select "Download Image to Disk"->Desktop->Student Document Server->Your Named Folder->Your Website Folder->Save
- TO INSERT SAVED IMAGE INTO PAGE->Insert->Picture->From File->Desktop->Student Document Server ->Your Named Folder->Your Website Folder->Choose the Image You Want to Insert->Insert
- TO RESIZE OF IMAGE->Click on the Image->Drag the Sides of the Image to Resize OR Format->Picture->Size
- TO CHANGE THE IMAGES POSITION ON THE PAGE->Format->Picture->Position (Hint: It helps to have your picture move as a character (i.e. letter). Try selecting "move object with text" or "lock anchor". Also check the "Wrapping" tab...I tend to use "square" as my wrapping style)
TO INSERT A HYPERLINK - Highlight the Word/Phrase to Hyperlink->Insert->Hyperlink ->In "Link To:" put the entire web address to link to (For example: http://www.hcpss.org/glenwood)->Click OK- HYPERLINKS FOR YOUR CLASS HOME PAGE: look for the link that matches your class and copy/paste it into your web page:

- When you feel reasonably sure that your MS Word Document is how you want your final web page to be it is time to save it as .html
- Open your document first->File->Save As->"Save File as Type: HTML Document"Click Desktop->Student Document Server->Open->Your Named Folder->Your Website Folder->Open->Save
Opening/Editing a .HTML Document
- Note: When you double click on your document, it will automatically open in Internet Explorer. This will allow you to see how it will look on the internet but it won't allow you to make changes.
- Open MS Word->File->Open->Desktop->Student Document Server->Open->Your Named FolderOpen->Your Website Folder->Open->Double Click on your .html document. Now you are able to edit the page. Make sure that you save your changes.
- Step 1: Save and close your website page. Double on the Student Document Server Icon (located on your desktop)->Open Up Your Named Folder
- Step 2:With Your Named Folder Open,Scroll Down the Page and Find Your Class Folder (ex. Mehalko A). Double Click on Your Class Folder to Open It. Drag Your Website Folder into Your Class Folder
