Now that students are settling in with their routines for the 2007-2008 school year, the counselors are meeting with students in a class setting. This week, counselors are working with sixth graders to familiarize students with guidance services, providing opportunities to express interest in various activities, and encouraging students to converse with classmates to build positive relationships. Counselors are looking forward to working with students on establishing respectful relationships during Outdoor Education through team building activities. Counselors will also be meeting with groups of new seventh and eighth graders to familiarize them with Student Services and to assist with their adjustment to their new school. We hope your children are becoming more comfortable and capable with their new routines. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Student Services (410 313-1514).
Information for Eighth Graders entering RHHS next year
ATTENTION - Students who will be attending River Hill High School for the 2008-2009 school year.
On Thursday, January 10th, River Hill invites students and parents to attend an information session and course expo designed to answer the questions you have about scheduling. What’s the difference between Honors English and GT English? Which academies are offered at River Hill? Are there any courses my son/daughter can take if he/she is interested in becoming a photojournalist? All these questions and more will be answered at the parent info night. The program begins at 7pm in the auditorium. A course expo in the student dining center will follow during which you may peruse the displays for each discipline and staff and students will be available for any additional questions you may have.
To help incoming 9th graders and their parents, we have set up a web site that will feature valuable information during the transition to high school; the link is www.rhhs-ngt.com. Current 8th graders and their parents should select "Incoming 9th Grade" from the navigation bar on the left. Please contact Ms. Munford at River Hill High School (410-313-7120) if you have any questions or concerns.

CONFERENCE TIMES:
The following statement from the negotiated agreement provides for teacher release time for parent conferences.
"Teachers may not be required to work beyond the contract day during the
parent-teacher conference window. However, if a teacher volunteers to work
evening conferences (one or two evenings) they will receive an equal amount of
time off during the conference window. Teacher participation in evening
conferences requires the concurrence of the principal."
Since not all teachers work during the same conferencing schedule, please check your child's individual teachers schedule for available conference dates and times.
