PARENTS:

In order to maintain a safe learning environment for our students the county has continued to implement a policy for internet and computer use within the schools. All students are required to sign the policy accepting responsibility for their actions while using the technology in the school. To view the policy, please click on this download: Computer Usage Policy

Here is the quick and simple version:

1. Students will access websites in school only when directed by a teacher. Websites must be preapproved. Websites will only be used for research purposes. This means that there is no free searching on the Internet. Free searching includes any searches on a Search Engine. Search Engines include: Google (images, as well), Yahoo, DogPile, MSN, Ask, Meta Crawler, etc. These search engines do not filter out inappropriate websites. These search engines also bring back way too many hits which can cause and students to become overwhelmed.

2. Students will treat the equipment with respect.

Please be aware that the Media Research Resources page provides a wealth of research opportunities, many of which were purchased by the county to make research less overwhelming, not to mention, these databases and such were chosen specifically for this age group.
