Business Partnerships and Community Involvment

As part of our statewide workforce readiness initiative, all CTE programs require students to participate in a school based culminating project, work placement or community based internship experience in which students are provided with opportunities, which connect the classroom, the business community.

Partnerships–A partnership is a year long, renewable collaborative effort to achieve mutually agreed upon goals and objectives in order to improve career education and to strengthen work force development in the Mid-Maryland Region.  These relationships can include: career fairs, apprenticeships, job shadowing, paid and unpaid internships, mentoring, sponsoring or evaluating a school based project or supporting the participation of students in local, state and national career and technology oriented competitions and exhibitions.

Community Involvement–Families, schools, businesses and the community at large have a lifelong interest in the education of students and their successful transition into gainful employment.  We welcome parent involvement in assisting students in reflecting upon their career interests and needs as well as their professional involvement providing students with networking opportunities, which connect the classroom and the business community.  Parents have final approval of all community placements and are called upon to arrange transportation of students to community based work experiences as well as exhibitions and competitions associated with CTE programs.
