Culinary Academy students learn the restaurant and food services industry from the ground up from prepping and cooking to service and management.  Our program teaches students to create new recipes, prepare and plate amazing dishes, and all the while keep a close eye on costs, sanitation and service.  Graduates are ready to start in the food services industry and head to college as Culinary, Baking and Pastry, or Hospitality majors. 

Hotel & Restaurant Management Academy

The Hotel and Restaurant Management Academy (HRMA) works in conjunction with the hotel and restaurant segments of the hospitality industry.  The Howard County Public School System has adapted curriculum acquired from the American Hotel and Lodging Association Educational Institute and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to formulate an academy that educates students in the needs of the fastest growing and second largest industry in the country.  Using the school-to-career approach to learning, the academy combines high-level academic learning with an understanding of how to apply it in the business world.  Students will earn certifications that are industry recognized and will give them the competitive edge in employment.
