Visual Communications - Graphic Design

This academy was specifically designed to bridge the gap between a client’s publication needs and the final printed product. The student will produce creative and practical solutions to satisfy the client's expectations. The production of various types of digital designs, typography and major printing processes will be explored. The application of specific technical knowledge will be stressed with an emphasis on accuracy, proper procedures and the use of various graphic software packages.
After successfully completing this course the student will have an understanding of publication design and preparing artwork for printing. He/she will have a working knowledge of major printing methods, prepress procedures and the use of professional design software used in this career field.

Animation 1 and Advanced Animation make up a two part program where students learn how to model and animate using computer generated images.
The students use industry standard programs such as 3ds Max, which is used in over 70% of video game development. Each student has a computer to work for the duration of the class. Students will not be required to use their home computers for class projects,but homework will still be assigned.
The emphasis of the course will be on creating a variety of work samples with the intention of creating a portfolio. Possible careers will be highlighted throught the classes by both teachers and guest lecturers.
