5th Grade Simulated Congressional Hearing

As part of our unit in Social Studies, fifth grade students will be participating in a Simulated Congressional Hearing to demonstrate their understanding of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. During SCH, students assume the role of constitutional experts. The students present oral statements before a panel of judges, usually adults from the community. Following the formal presentations, students respond to prepared questions to demonstrate the depth of their understanding of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

We need volunteers to help us ready the teams for the Friday, June 6th Simulated Congressional Hearing. We have scheduled times for student groups to work on their testimony. It would be wonderful if each group had an adult to assist them with planning their presentations, editing their writing, and connecting to current events. This is a coaching and encouraging role. You can be a spectacular coach, even if you’re not a history buff.

Schedule:
Kick-Off Begins April 30th
Students Prepare their Presentations on May 9th
SCH is on June 6th
