Insecticide Information

The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) would like to inform Clemens Crossing neighbors that a small portion of trees near the school have been designated a treatment area for the 2008 Gypsy Moth Cooperative Suppression Program.  No portion of school property is in the treatment area.

The area is designated Gypsy Moth Spray Block HO016 and is bordered roughly by portions of Sternwheel Drive, Fair Oaks, Cardinal Lane, and the part of Quarterstaff Road between these few streets.  Families living in the spray block area should have received a mailing directly from MDA. Insecticide will be sprayed by low-flying aircraft, usually between sunrise and 10 AM. The exact spraying schedule, anticipated to be during the last week of April or first week of May, will be announced by spray block number, and information on the insecticide used may also be obtained by parents.  MDA will not treat areas where students are walking, and they will observe the area during the spray program to be sure no one is observed in the spray block area.
