Welcome to the 2005-2006 Young Authors Template. Before you get started, here are a few simple instructions:
Click HERE to open a Microsoft Word document of the TEMPLATE seen below the directions. Then follow the directions as you see them.
- For the Cover Page,
Title Page, Dedication Page and About the Authors Page, please complete
the info in between the brackets (<>), then DELETE the BRACKETS.
- When entering the main text of your book, just leave a blank line
in between "pages" of your story. You can type one sentence on each
"page" or as many as will fit, totaling no more than 12 "pages" in the
finished book. If a "page" wraps two pages in the file, move the
beginning of your sentence to a new page by adding enough blank lines
before it. Your story can be as short as six sentences: one per "page"
in the finished book.
- DO NOT change the margins or the print orientation. The book is
slightly smaller than a normal 8.5x11 landscape page, so the margins
have been set to fit. The right margin needs to remain under 9.25
inches. The book is supposed to be LANDSCAPE, so don’t change that
either.
- Remember to save as you go so you won’t lose your work.
- Once you’ve completed and saved your story, delete the brackets
(<>), print and turn it in to your teacher. Please do not staple
as this version will be cut and pasted into your finished book.

28; however, if your story is really long, you may want to decrease the
font size for the main text. Please DO NOT change the margins.
