CEDAR LANE SCHOOL
ACTIVITIES FOR DAILY LIVING:
Students in the Elementary, Middle and High School levels are able to take advantage of opportunities to learn simple cooking tasks, domestic skills, self care and recreation leisure skills in a home-like environment. Communication skills are stressed throughout while independence is fostered through simple cooking tasks. Social skills are developed through recreation and leisure activities. The use of communication systems is continued from the total school environment so students can make requests, comments, and work on turn-taking and interactions with others. Students are encouraged to interact with their environment by locating items and retrieving and replacing them with the least amount of assistance as needed. Students are also encouraged to follow through with the steps of familiar tasks such as the completion of laundry. Our goal is to teach students simple food preparation skills, develop recreation and leisure activities and to live as independently as possible.
